Columbia studies herbal medicine

 
  Columbia University is one of 10 centers studying alternative treatments for conditions such as AIDS and cancer. According to Fredi Kronenberg, director of the Columbia program, current projects include investigation of traditional Chinese herbal formulas for uterine fibroids and menopausal hot flashes, as well as botanical remedies used by Dominican and Nigerian traditional healers in New York City. Centers of alternative medicine have also been established at Harvard and Stanford.
