In April 17th comments
to FDA on the World Health Organization's potential rescheduling of ephedrine,
the Dietary Supplement Safety and Science Coalition (DSSC) stressed the
history of use and safety of the ingredient, stating "ephedrine is
not a controlled substance in the US today, nor should it be internationally."
At a June meeting of the World Health Organization's Expert Committee
on Drug Dependence, possible international control over ephedrine by the
UN Convention on Psychotropic Substances will be discussed. FDA has requested
comments on the availability, abuse potential, medical value and illegal
trafficking of ephedrine. |
