Suppliers of
health foods in China must have licenses and have their products tested
by the Chinese National Foods Hygiene Inspection Institute. The
Ministry has defined health foods as "products that affect the
functions of human organs but are
not targeted at special ailments." Unlicensed
health foods will be banned if they are not
registered and tested by March, 1997. This system
is intended to upgrade quality and standardize
manufacturing of health foods. |
