Profile: Cape
Natural Tea Products (Pty) Ltd. (Continued
from previous page)
Another important focus at Cape Natural Tea
Products is supporting community development projects that assist
rural South Africans in growing marketable herbs. Currently,
the company is co-sponsoring a honeybush cultivation project
at the community of Haarlem in the Langkloof region of South
Africa, in collaboration with the US Agency for International
Development (USAID) and the South African Agricultural Research
Council (ARC). “We are very excited to be involved in a project
like this,” commented Henrietta Souter, Marketing Director for
Cape Natural Tea Products. “This is only the start of what will
be a very meaningful project, bringing income and learning opportunities
to the people of Haarlem.” The company is also exploring ways
to support several communities in growing rooibos, by helping
the people to build tea courts for drying their tea and finding
markets for their products. – Krista Morien, Herb Research
